e85 question
I'm thinking of trying e85 for a bit.
I'm thinking that I need to have the tank as empty as possible before filling with e85 so the 85/15 ratio isn't altered by the existing gas in the tank.
Is this correct, or can I just go to the e85 station and fill up without worrying about it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

2007 LT, flexfuel ready.
No mods, stock.
I'm not wanting to try it for performance at this time, though some mods might be tempting in the future.
For the time being, I just want to try it because a local station sells it, its better for the environment, and most of the money stays in this country.

never seen anybody with newer N/A car using it, but i wouldn't put that in my car tho. it might not hurt, but i don't know how your car would take it. look at the owner manual or go to the dealer and ask if it's ok for your car?

if it's flex fuel your good to go just try to have it as close to E as possible i've heard of other vehicles throwing codes if you do like half/half
I have the same engine (3500 Flex Fuel V6) I've used E85 just for the heck of it...I did not notice any difference in the way the engine performed. The exhaust smells kinda sweet, and you MPG will suck. I went from averaging 25 MPG on gasoline to 17 MPG on E85. But the E85 is like $1.00 cheaper than regular gas.
Our cars are designed to run on regular gas, E85, or ANY combination of the two.
As long as you have the Flex-Fuel, you will have no problems with E85!

i have never noticed a performance gain but i did notice a drop in gas milege a little. but i did notice a seew smell coming from my car kind of wish that there are more e85 gas stations for us e85 guys. but i am glad we can use both types none85 and e85 gas
e85 is stupid.....up here in Fargo ND it is everywhere and only 40 cents or so cheaper....and it realy doesn't save the planet, if you want to do that go to clean diesel...it takes just as much fuel to harvest the crops as they produce where as with diesel you can make bio diesel for pennies on the dollar i have seen people making it for 60 cents a gallon then driving a VW jettat getting 50 mpg now thats saving the planet not this ethenol crap....the only thing it is good for is boosting power from a boosted motor....
E85 is great for the environmentally conscious person but if you think you'll gain any kind of power advantage with it, you'll be very disappointed. The car will go through the E85 faster than regular gas because the engine requires more of E85 due to it's lower octane, hence using more. There isn't any economy using it either since you'll be using more of it than gas.
