E85 is NOT lower octane, its actually 103 octane...that said, you will not notice a performance change, at least I didnt.

Brock, your Monte is not ment to run on E85, thats intresting that it ran ok...

E85 is great for the environmentally conscious person but if you think you'll gain any kind of power advantage with it, you'll be very disappointed
This is true for an NA car made to run either. If your car benefits from running race gas, then it will benefit from E85; a lot of people use E85 as cheap race fuel. However, that means you either need a really high compression NA setup (in which case you would have to be running race fuel already)- or a boosted setup where you can increase the boost. You can't put E85 in a regular NA car and expect more performance- it would be the same as putting 93 octane in a car made to run on 87.

if it's flex fuel your good to go just try to have it as close to E as possible i've heard of other vehicles throwing codes if you do like half/half
My mom's Impala is flex fuel, and she has put a lot of different combinations in there with no problems at all.

In the owners manual it says that you can mix ANY combination of gas and E85 in a Flex Fuel car.

brock probable has biger injectors and little more stuff done to his car like a tune as well. thats probable why he could run the e85 ges without problems but i never noticed a performance gain . but it had a sweet smell when i ran e85 but the gas stations around here where i live stoped caring it because the only people i have noticed having flex fuel is the police malibu and there outher cars.

I wouldn't use it for a performance gain or anything, if it's cheaper throw it in, if you can throw it in if it saves a few bucks and your car can use it.

you know what i mean bumpin there is a lot of talk about e85 and the hot rod sene. saying it will give more performance even to a stock motor. i think it is a joke on what they said if a person is able to use e85 to help with filling there car without going broke do it.
