Cover Rusted off??
Hello all,
I am not a very car savvy person so please bear with me. I have a 2002 Monte Carlo. When I returned home from work today I found what appears to be the cover to something underneath my car had rusted completely off. It appears to be the cover to a cylinder about two feet long that runs directly underneath the car in between the driver and passenger seat. Can anyone help me identify what this is? And also how important is the cover? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Most likely it is just the resonator heat shield. They aren't very well put on, and water gets trapped in it and helps it come off.
It is not really important.
I bet it looks just like that.
However if the resonator itself has rusted through at the top because of that heat shield (which traps the moisture) the car will probably sound very droney.
