Question Considering top swap but have a few questions.

I am considering doing the L67 top swap to my 2004 Monte Carlo SS.

I am wondering if anyone has used this kit?

http://www.wbodystore.com/grandprix/...Kit-p-157.html

Also for those that have swapped did you keep you stock axles or upgrade to L67 ones?

I will be doing some mods before the top swap such as CAI and ZZP downpipe and am wondering if the 2.5" downpipe will work for the supercharger or should I go with the 3" and if so would it still work OK while my car is NA?

Thanks for any and all guidance!

Most people don't buy a kit because you end up usually paying much more than if you just sourced the parts yourself. Secondly, you can't use the L67 axles without doing an HD upgrade to the trans (diff/diff cover).

3" DP is better for SC, especially if you plan to mod it more. It will work with your NA setup- just don't expect massive power gains. Also, be realistic- how likely is it that you'll get a top swap- I see too many people modding for a major mod like a top swap, but never end up doing it- so its worth it to think about how likely it is that you'll actually do it before you buy the DP.

You don't need to mess with your axles.

Instead of getting a downpipe, just save your money and buy a top end, then get headers.

My only concern is how many miles would be on the supercharger and heads? How many miles are these superchargers good for typically?

There is a guy local to me that has the supercharger, throttle body, fuel rail with injectors, heads, lower intake, PCM, and the SC gaskets, throttle body gaskets and lower intake gaskets. The parts have 82000 on them and he is asking 500.

Do not know if this is a good deal or not?

Thanks!

500 is a good price for the top swap. Is he including the harmonic balancer? You're still going to need the PCM tuned for your transmission gear ratio.

No that price does not include any pulleys. I am working out a deal to see how much he can supply and how much he wants.

I know the L36 injector wiring harness will not work.

Is it better to buy the adapters or can the L67 harness be used?

Thanks!

I'd say the adapters would be better. Just a few alterations or putting in a whole new harness? ****, adapt away.

I have a full set of pulleys and harmonic balancer if you need them. I also have heads and a LIM. I've decided to stay with spray.
