Default cold air intake on 04 monte

I realy know nothing about cars or engines and there parts. but i've recently learned about a cold air intake, and how it's suposed to increase performance, and fuel econemy, and throdle response, am i correct in everything i understand? i'm not entirly sure if these cars come with them to begin with? I have an 04, monte carlo automatic. not ss. so, my question is, is it worth it?

No, they didn't come with them stocked.
They came with an air box, unless of course you bought yours used and the previous owner had it on.
I believe you do get gains and engine performs better.
You have an `LS, not sure on the gains exactly.
Wait, for the more experience members give you a better idea.
Throw on an Engine Bay pictures, so they can help you out some more.

ahh, thanks i see now that ive accutatly looked that it doesn't seem to have one, it appears to have a box as you described, i really know very little...i'm a very machanicly capable person. just never got into cars, but you show me an electrcial diagram and i'll tell you every piece and run you all the way through it in about 30 seconds :P tehe.

anyhoo, the picture is here.

I imagine the unit i'm putting in replaces that box on the bottom right correct? sure seems pricy, my buddy who had told me about this had said it only cost his chevy SUV something like 150$ for his cold air intake, but i'm only finding them for abotu 300$
http://www.airintakeandfilter.com/pr...oductid=204181
is it really worth it? and what other kind of upgrades are posible on this car? i really enjoy the power, but if i can get even more throdle response out of it..that'll be awsome i get abou 20 mpg now, and i do usialy about 1\3 city and 2\3 highway. whitch is decent but usialy doesn't yeild the best gas milage.

also, i'm thinking about throwing in some HID's becuase I hate normal headlights, never was worth it with the cheap pos i used to drive. but seems mildly worth it now :P I"ve found something like this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_4524wt_1165

what else would i need ? will those bulbs fit in a standard socket of the fixture on the car? or would i need a new lamp fixture? that's where i imagine it gets pricy huh :\

You don't want that K&N FIPK

You want the wizaired for the 3400 series

here you go man, this is what the wizaired looks like on my car

a link of what it sounds like off my youtube, add me if you want =]

interior sound

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3w9UYvjG7U

exterior

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7Oa5_UdzII

also the HID kit will fit right in the normal headlight easily

here's a walkaround with all exterior lights, you can see the hids in there tho too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe2yg...eature=related

in my opinion the wizaired is worth it because of the performance and sound it gave me but if you could i would do a fender well intake because it will save you some money and be just about the same thing.

hope this helps ya out a little bit
