Good luck. It's probably something with the EVAP system.

that should have been like 25-35 dallar test at least. going to advanced auto or auto zone runes it for free and most places should have been that way as well. do to the economy. it is good buisness to do a diog for free and hope to do the repair at there location. my opinion is this what is the best way to have people come back to your buisness is to do things like a diognostics for free. also tell them the problem and hope they will do the repair because it gives the custimer the satisfaction. on they are being looked after as in doing some thing every one knows it is going to be alot in caughst

My engine light has come on twice in the past two weeks, usually cold mornings about 15 - 20 minutes into my drive, borrowed my neighbors code reading tool, same as your needs thermostat. Going to pick one up tomorrow and will put it in some night this week or next weekend, looks easy right in front, I've done some where they are buried, this looks nice, even has a bleeder valve on the housing.

The tstat is an easy fix, and pretty cheap. If it was me, I'd be flushing the cooling system when you change the tstat too!

I know in California Autozone and places like it CAN NOT check engine codes for you. So sadly, you would probably get stuck with a $75 or more bill around here just to have a code pulled. With that said, there are plenty of decent code readers out there that only cost $100-150. So its probably worth it for many people to bite the bullet and buy a code reader.
