Default burning some oil

hey all Don't know what is doing the burning i rulled out valve seals from start up and after i accelerate, I lifted the oil fill cap and no smoke came out. I'm not sure if its P-rings only cause when i rev the car the smoke shoots out once but as i keep revving it no more comes out. then I wait 60 seconds and rev and the blue smoke shoots out again. this happens as i hit the accelerator not after.

here is a video to only show it does it once.

here is another shot but its crappier quality sorry and shorter

thanks

That sound's like it very well could be piston rings. How many miles are on your Monte, and what year/ engine is it?

From what you describe it sounds to me as though you may have bad valve stem seals and/or worn valve guides. If the piston rings were worn you would see blowby in the crankcase and a constant stream of blue smoke out the tail pipe. The only way to determine the exact cause is to have a cylinder leak down test or a dry/wet compression test done.

Its a 97 z34 so a 97 3.4l dohc and its just past 120,000 miles i have only owned it for 20,000 and given it regular oil changes.

and can any of these test be done without having to buy equipment? Just so ik before i bother our mechanic lol

oh and when its cold or just rained a lot. A big stream of smoke comes out idk if that is relevant. i think its mostly moisture or condisation

If you have a compression tester you can do the dry/wet test. If you have an air compressor and the spark plug hole adapter you could do the cylinder leak down test also.

It's common to see (white) smoke come out of the tail pipe during high humidity and cool temperatures. It's caused by the difference in temperature between the exhaust and ambient air.

This being said, it probably is just valve seals, it's a common thing with the 3.4L DOHC engine when the mileage gets higher.
