GM put a new engine in my Monte at 16,927 miles because of a spun cam shalf bearing cost $ 00.. Now my Monte has 48,985 miles ..

Dude that sucks, I'm sorry man. Weird though I've never seen that happen except for like full race applications. Did you have any rod knock prior to this? Lose a lot of oil?

 

I had a rod Knock right before it blew as I was in the passing a slight knock could be heard right after I pulled out to the passing lane nothing before that . I had just changed the oil pan gasket 2 weeks prior to this trip and there was no metal in the bottom of the oil pan and i run royal purple syn in the car for oil . It just was a slight Knock and then a big pop and a ton of white smoke out the back !!
I am back from Vacation now and just waiting for the mechanic to call me and tell me the Motor is inat his shop so I can tow the Monte over and we can start working on it !! It may have to wait next week they said 5 to 10 days to get the motor.

 

Oh man, just saw this, so sorry to hear Keith, Glad to hear you and everyone is ok...as everyone said, it sucks but I'm glad your swapping the engine and keeping the car, it is one of the nicest montes around fer sure!
