Default B & M Blower

So, I had a guy give me a B&M supercharger for a small block, with manifold and all for giving him a ride home from the bar. I believe it is the 142 series. Anybody running one of these or know much about it on a small block 305. How much boost can I run, how much power will it actually add to the 305. I am in the process of building a 350, just not to sure of how long that will take, so I am anxious to get this on and running. Thanks guys

I would not put a blower on a stock 305...i would pull it and do a 350 swap or upgrade the rods and pistons. Stock crank should be ok. Hypereutetic pistons for sure...I would do head swap as well. You could safely run 8lbs of boost with the upgraded motor and it would be good for close to 75-90hp in my experience. Put that bad boy on a built 350 with some 882 heads and you could probably push the boost to 12lbs and get 120hp out of it...lots of variables...carb, fuel pump, cam...etc

agreed. i wouldnt waste time putting it on a 305. id pick up a decent cam and a set of heads and throw it on the 350. you already got the blower for free so i would invest in a real set of heads for it.

Is you 85 an SS? Put one on my 87 aero w/ stock 305 and a set of headers and msd w/ boost retard, was running 5-6 lbs of boost. Got it down to 13.40's, Finally smoked a piston after about 100 passes. I say go for it, have fun with it and later build the 350 for it. Personally I would never run hypereutetic pistons with boost, well I did once, they're just to brittle. always forged, may cost alittle more now, but well worth it in the long haul.

I am definitely doing a 350 swap eventually, trust me I know it is not really worth the time to put it on a stock 305, but it will definitely be funny. I am just doing this to see if it actually works before putting it on the 350. Do i need any special water pump or pulleys and brackets to bolt this thing up. I did find out it is the 144 model. I was going to do new gaskets and teflon stripes before I put it on. I am not a hundred percent sure if I wanna rn this on the 350 though. I may put it on the 305 just to be able to sell it as a running, usable charger. I will definitely keep ya all updated on my decisions.
By the way I talked to my motor guy and he said that this blower is designed to put right on a stock motor and that you can keep the stock internals and it will be fine.
Also, what size cowl hood will i need so I don't have to cut a hole in the hood. I do not have a garage to park it in.
yes the 85 is an SS.
