Default 98 Z harness on a 96 Z direct plug and play for swap.
i have a 96Z that i am going to swap to a 3800 next week. is the 98 z harness a direct swap? i heard that some cars you need to move/splice wires at the c100 fire wall connector. how do i figure out what ones to move?

From what I've heard, a 98 z wiring harness is a direct swap, especially since you're OBDII. If you have the z's harness, you should be good.
