Default 86 monte carlo trans swap

hi im a 15 year old kid im i have 86 monte carlo and i am trying to turn the car into a standard transmission. many people have told me different things from that it was not possible to it was very easy. so if anyone can tell me what trans are compatable (with some modifications)

The easiest to swap and easiest tranny to find is T5. You can find them in S10s and some Camaros. Good luck. I have a whole folder in my bookmarks for my 85 going standard. If you want, I can post all my links.

go check out montecarloss.com there is a write up on it there...you can get the pedal asemblyfrom dixiemontecarlo.com...i hope you have about a grand if not a little to play with and a fair amount of

time to do this... you also will need a new crossmember,shortened and balanced driveshaft, bellhousing...flywheel, clutch fork, ....

All those are fairly easy to come by if you have a donor vehicle.

only 80's monte carlo that were manual were in mexico good luck finding a mc manual.... you could use most of the stuff from malibu manual as the write up on montecarloss.com does..

I was talking about a standard MC lol Any standard gbody would work. Pretty much the pedal assembly from any vehicle could work.
