86 CL 305 RESTO
recently I received an old 86 cl 305 5.0 4bbl.A/T Monte Carlo and its been sitting for years, so I thought it might be a nice little project and i could learn alot from it (only being a 16 year old kid with a huge interest in cars) so after a little clean up its surprisly in really great shape. so me and my dad tried to see if the 305 was locked up so wetried toit turn over. sitting for so9 yearsi thought it would be locked up and no good but it did try andit did try toturn over, but of course it wont start so after a little hope i removed the valve covers to see how bad it was. there wasnt a part of that engine that wasnt covered in a good 1/4 in. of grease and grime. so we called up some places and did a little research and the 305 had a really popular swap the 350 and it lined up perfectly so we decided to go with a 350 (5.7L) and apparently the quad carb on the 305 in there right now is controlled electronicly and it was a common fix it with the car so most of the machine shops suggested and standard quad carb with the small block. im also seriously thinking about a performance cams, getting the intake mani. polished. maybe getting some forged performance pistons plus connecting rods ,but the motor mods. are still up in the air
any suggestions and any extra motor mods. that would be worth the effort would be great.
thanks, Michael (sorry about all the writing)
