well there is more performace parts out there for the chevy small block then there is for the olds small block ! so if you ever want to up the power later you will be limited with the olds motor i would go with the chevy motor in the chevy car but that is just me

I had a 62 Cutlass 215ci V-8 Rocket F-85 with the Q-jet

Now I've come to find out that this is a very rare car. Don't know why we sold. it.

I was extremely fond of that car and it was alot quicker than the 150 hp rating that it advertises.

I would think that part would be harder to find down the road, but the engines are collectibles.

you don't want too much power? lol....I don't understand... I can't get enough...lol!!! go with the chevy 350. tons of parts and you dont have to change anything else like the trans bellhousing for example. either one will make as much power as you have money to spend but the olds 350 will cost more any way you look at it.

I feel ya, I just started getting into cars, engines, and etc. I think im gonna go with the 350 rocket, because i dont plan on really beefin the car anymore. Good look on the tips tho, I didnt know that it would be harder to beef up a 350 rocket. I might get rims for my monte carlo so alot of speed and nice rims might not be a good combo. So what kind of carb could i add to my 350 rocket to make it go a little faster?

Okay so I took in what you guys said about the chevy 350. I was lucky and found a 350 engine on craigslist. (Its a small block with a 4-bolt main. It has a holley 850 double pumper, k&n air filter with a chrome top and bottom, chrome moroso oil pan and chrome valve covers. It also comes with a auto turbo 400 transmission and a torque converter.) here is the link http://eugene.craigslist.org/pts/431342982.html.

How much? What condition?

Of course, set ups like that at a good price are rare.

Finding someone to recondition it at an economical rate is also getting rare.

Do it while the parts are still available.

350's have had the same mount configuration formany, manyyears.

I'm am not an expert with anything after 1972.

I would think that the tranny mounting must be researched though.

A turbo 400 almost fits anything from 62-72 and possibly beyond, after that I couldn't tell you.
