Default 3.8 series 1 to series 2

Is it possible to swap a 3.8 series 1 to a series 2 3.8?

Yes, what kind of car is it in?

I'd imagine you'd need the complete powertrain, engine bay wiring harness, and pcm. Not sure how much the engine and trans mounts changed...

Actually my monte has a 3.4 liter in it. The car I would be swapping would be a 1995 Buick riviera with a 3800 series 1 with a motor form a 97 buick rivier 3.8 series 2

I would imagine that, yes, you could make the swap. I would think you definitely need the pcm, wiring harness, etc.

The long block should be the same. I would use the PCM from the 95 as it is going to be OBDI and the 97 will be OBDII. That could be a pain to deal with.

SI and SII bottom ends are not the same for sure.

Also, if you switched over the engine bay wiring, I'd make the changes to the obd port inside too- I'd way rather have an obd2 pcm for tuning options later.
