3.8 to 5.3 swap
#2
It hasn't really been done. When people want to put a V8 in they usually do an LSX and RWD.
The most common swap is just for the L67 because you can get crazy amounts of power out of it for cheap and the aftermarket is amazing.

I've never seen it done, but it could possibly be done - just get the whole powertrain (motor, tranny) and then take it from there. You'll probably need to make up custom axles, but the biggest problem I would guess would be the under hood wiring.

Seems like a lot of work, depends how bad you really want it. Isn't the Gen 7 a bit wider than the GEN 6 ? The original axles on the car would be the correct length provided that they work within the 4T65e-HD trans.

Ive gone over the pros and cons of this before and these are some of this
The good
V8 sound
The bad
Expensive
Less torque than a modified l67
Barely any available modifications
Alot of custom fabrication

Plus the 5.3 aftermarket is pretty weak. I know everyone says it has the "LSx" aftermarket, but thats only true to a certain extent, as there are lots of other problems in the way as well.
If you wanted to swap one just to do something different, then thats one thing- but I totally agree that a modded L67 will be cheaper, easier to swap, and make just as much power (with the ability to follow proven plans to make big power).

i have seen 06 and 07 madels that have the 3.5 motors in them swaped for the 3.8 motor without major work. but a 5.3 there is going to be alot of work under the hood as in electrical dont be alarmed whe you get the motor in and have to change some wires under the hood. but i think it would be a cool swap good luck
