Default 2001 check engine light

Have a 2001 ss 3.8 had it since new, 68k miles on it check engine light comes on. Vechile runs fine. Took it to autozone and their scanner says tire pressure. All my tires are fine, but usually if a tire is low tire pressure show up in the display. Never had check engine light come on for this or anything for that matter. Any infor would be greatly appreciated

it might be a fault in the tire pressure sensor system. not that the pressure is low. Im pretty sure that year did not have sensors in the tires but used the ABS wheel speed sensor to indicate if a tire is low.

If Autozone told you the CEL is on because of a tire pressure problem I would find a different parts store to patronize.

Knowing what code(s) set the CEL would be helpful in resolving the problem. If you can, have the car scanned again, write down any codes that come up and post them.

These cars do not have TPMS sensors. The use the abs speed sensors. So the fault should register as a cel

The faults don't register as a CEL, if anything it would register as an ABS light / Trac OFF light.

Agree, get the CEL read again (by someone different) get the P code and post it up here. Most likely, I could see it being an EGR issue or something emission related that just doesn't affect driveability
