RE: 2000 SS with 122K miles

Well Monday AAMCO put in a new fuel pump at no cost to me because they thought it was the problem. Still not fixed. So they drove it across the street to the GM dealership and paid for the engine diagnostics. They said they think it's a sticky valve. No results back from the test. AAMCO is picking up the tab on that also. I KBB the car before taking it in and it came out to around$5K. Right now I'm $3.5K + into it. I don't want to drop another two thousand dollars on this car when I could have traded it in on a 05 GTO.
I'll keep this thread updated to the results of their work.

Sticky valve? BULLS__T!! Not on a 3.8! Not unless you have totally neglected it, and even then?

Well got it back today and I owe everyone on here an apology. Chevy probed the cat. and said that was the problem. The catalytic converter was shot. A lot of people on here said that is what I should have looked for. Unfortunatly the cat being clogged is what over worked the tranny and one thing broke the other. So I have a new tranny and cat., $4100 later.

Now listen to this. I take my car off the lot, get on it to check out their work and now I have a huge exhaust leak. I took it back to AAMCO and their going to ask the Chevy tech about it. I can't win with this thing.

How many miles are on your monte? GM covers Catalytic Converters up to 100,000 miles.

Not true. Like I put up on another thread. I burnt 2 valve seats with a plugged cat on 2 different engines. The backpressure caused the valves to over heat.

I hope your valves & seats are okay. I went through 2 engines because of a plugged cat.

I think the thread started with "122k miles."
