Can you put the 5.3 v8 2007 monte carlo engines in the 2000 monte SS?

there are several things to consider....

with the V8 rating at over 300 hp you would have to rebuild the tranny to be heavy duty. also some components may have to be changed. you would probably be looking at close to $10,000 grand for the change if you have to have someone else do it.

but with enough modifications and money, anything is possible.someone on my mymonte has a northstar V8 in a5th gen monte. so if you have the resources and have the determination to do it, by all means do it. i think it would be a first.

and those new V8s are awesome!!!

I've read that the engine compartment frame of the 06-07 SS is different in dimensions to the frame of the 06-07 LS/LT/LTZ.

Which is different in dimensions to the 00-05.

I could be wrong though. Can't believe everything you read on the internet.

I remember reading somewhere that the 5.3 Engine cradle has 3 mounting points, whereas the V6 models only use 2 mounts. I would think it would be quite a job to redesign the whole engine compartment. Believe me, I own an 07 SS and the 5.3 is a whole other animal when it comes to the torque it puts on the vehicle's structure compared to the V6's.

Like the man says, enough money and anything can be done, but it would probably be cheaper in the long run to just trade up to an 06 or 07 SS, where the engineering has been done for you.

it's not an easy swap... but like all things, if you have enough $$ anything is possible...

anything is possible given enough money...you could drop a world crate 572 in it for 20grand for the motor alone...if you got enough resources to figure out how to get it to work in the car...that engine has 850 hp right out of the crate
