Default 03 Monte LS Transmission Question???

I love this forum sometimes I wish I had something to give back for all the help ive got. While driving my car, between 45 and 50 mph my trans seems to be making a jump motion, or a sort of skip as best as i can describe it. My mehcanic told me I may need to update my Trans?? He could not do it and said I would have to take it to a dealer. I contacted the dealer and they refered to it as reprograming the trans, but not looking at my car could not say if that could be my problem. Ive never heard of this, and could not find any threads on the subject. they want $120 bucks to do this, and its not bad if this is the issue?? Anybody ever heard of this??

well, my car seems to be doing the same thing. Would you explain it like a jump, after acclerating, as well as sometimes when switching gears?

you can spend the same amout for a performance cat from zzp and swap it and if it does it again you eleminated a comon problem. that will cause a slipping or acting up trans feeling even though the trans might be ok. i would say cat first it is alot less then a 2k rebuild and reprograming

The car needs to be checked for what codes are stored in the PCM/BCM, then go from there. You could take the vehicle to Autozone/Advance Auto and have them read the codes. They can also tell you what the codes mean.

its called a reprogram and only a dealer can reprogram the tcm (transmission control module) that is incorporated into the pcm. they are the only places that have the gm scan tool that is able to do it. the reason that shops start with a reprogram is because there is a known issue with the current pcm program that can fix the issue. it could be the timing of a servo in your transmission that is causing the jump as its changing pressure along with various other issues. a reprogram is often the cheapest and easiest fix for a car. as for a cat issue, it very well could be but the cat is going to cost more installed than $120.
