You can expect your bill for the fuel pump somewhere in the area of $500-$600

I knew one of our Pro's would step up!!!

Hey Dess, have you had to run a PSI test before on our cars? Just wondering what the SOP is...

Well I had the car towed to a local shop. Sure enough it was the Fuel pump. Cost $665!
After leaving the shop, the gas gauge stated the tank was completly full. Then about 10 seconds later it dropped all the way to below empty. The message center said, Low Fuel. I took it into the shop again, and he said there was very little gas in the tank. Unless he emptied some there should be 3/4 in there. I will fill it and see where I stand. It's never fun not knowing how much gas is in the tank!

So I tried to start the car to go to lunch after my last post. It did the same thing! So I called the shop I took it too, and they suggested putting more gas into it. I did that and it still would not start. A friend here thinks that since the gas gauge is going from full to empty, as I mentioned before, he thinks the problem is in the electrical system and it burning out the pump. At this point I can't imagine anything else that could be doing this. The only other possibility is the shop did questionable work, and they cut some corners. Any help, insight, or ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Well they looked at it, and apparently there was an alarm wire in the passenger side fuse box that was shorting out. This was causing it to kill the engine starting process. It's working fine now. The gas gauge is fine. I am happy for now. Thanks for everyone's help in this matter!

I have pics posted of this car. Visit my home page at http://www.tiderfish.com Then click 2001 MC.

Oh no.... So, do you think you just dropped $600+ dollars on a fuel pump for nothing?
