you can look at my phot album but i clean mine every time i was the car. i shoot it with the hig presure soap and then do the rest of the car then i will rinse it off with the car nd then do the rest of the car.

I will also do it when i wash it by hand (more offten the case)
then when im done i will do the tires with the same rags i use on the motor.

So far the car is almost 3 years old and you can still see everythign under the hood of the car.

Also due to salt over here in Germany they salt the roads like it is all they can do. So it is as deep as the snow by winters end.
So i pay to have the car put on a lift and have it steam cleaned under neath once a year but it is well worth it if ya ask me and i can see if i have any leaks etc...
So would i recomned it? Hell yeah i thought everyone did it LOL

But honestly if you have never touched it and or are restoring a car easy off oven cleaner is great stuff for this and cheap but it will take paint off the car and the motor so if you care about this make sure you dont use it.

spray it on a cold motor and cover everythign good. it has to be activated by heat. so i drive to the car wash netx then spray it off after doing the rest of the car. and it will eat threw alot more then regular engin degreassers that i have found and it smells better to :-)

Good luck

just make sure when you wash the stuff off with water that the car is on...makes things a little safer...if water gets in one of the sensors it will most likely just burn off..where as if the car was off it would just sit in them and you may have troubles starting the car...just a little safer way to do it with all our new engins running off computers

ok, i work at a carwash for gm up here in canada. all the mecanic's agree it's safe to spray under the hood. i spray usally under a hood about 3 times a day. you have to be careful in winter, if you guy's get snow, and dont go crazy when spraying the battery. I've shorted out a battery once, but it was my fault. make sure the covers are on your batery and wipe it dry sooner than later. hope this helps.

what about the alternator? I had a 1990 Silverado 4x4 that I ised to drag race. Whenever I took it to be detailed for race day, the guys always covered the alternator before they sprayed and rinsed the engine.

Not so in the Monte?

i have never coverd the alt up to wash any car i own. and have never had a issue but then again i dont stand there and soak it till water it comming out of every hole on it ethier.

But i also keep the motor running on the car and LISTEN to it to see if it the idel drops if it dose i back the water out of there and see why it is dropping.

But it is up to you.

Like i siad i have never coverd mine on any car or truck i have drove. never will etheir i guess. If it gose out from washing it was on its way anyway i guess

i've sprayed the alt with harsh cleaning chemicals and then washed it off. never had any problems. remember i work in a car wash for gm, so i do this daily. only one truck cought on fire. but they said the belt came loose or something, was'nt from washing it.
