Avoid using dish soap. Its never a good idea on car paint. If you want to remove wax I would get a quart ofPPG DX330 wax and grease remover and some soft paper towels. Almost any auto parts store that sellsautomotive paint will have it.The 330 is a very mild solvent will also remove some tree saps and road tar as well. It will not harm the paint in any way and is alot better to use than dish soap.

I had that problem on my previous car. I got a gift certificate for a complete detailing job at a local auto detailer. They waxed over dirt, and it wouldn't come off. At the time, I just let it go because it was in a spot that 99% of people wouldn't notice.
I'm with Chris on this one though.
I used Mother's Cleaner Wax on my Monte about a month ago. OMG what a difference. I didn't think there was anything wrong with my paint before I started. But as I was doing the job, it looked like there was a blue-ish haze on the paint that I hadn't done yet.
When I was done, the color was so much more vivid, it just popped. I'm a believer in the cleaner wax. Now I want to go over it again with some NXT Generation Tech Wax.
