Default stinky interior :(

hi, im rather new to this forum, as i havent had my monte very long. anyway, ibought a very nice 97victory red LS, that needed a little work. i managed to rope my dad into helping my with it, and he liked it ALOT! iguess in his efforts to one up me, he bought a black 96 Z34 SS.
it is also a very sharp car, but it has been sitting for 5 years (4 indoors 1 out) and he paied for it before smelling the interior... which smells like a mix between a moldy chicken coop and rat urine, not a very plesent ride. my dad can fix any mechanical problems the car has, but he is at a loss for what to do about the smell... any ideas/suggestions to be rid of the stink?? thanks!

You could take out the seats, and use a rug doctor on them to clean it some, other then that look for the sorse and clean it accordingly.

Does it have a cabin air filter? Mine was stinking. Took out the cabin air filter and a damn rat was trying to make a nest in it. Replaced it, it smelled better instantly but there was still alittle smell left. Put an air freshener (orange) in it and about two weeks later, even without the air freshener, the smell was completely gone.

Febreeze... Lots of Febreeze!
J/K

I hope you get that taken care of. That could be one factor in getting rid of it if it was my car. Good luck.

about where is it located? under the dash?
Passenger side under the windshield wiper. You have to peel back that plastic piece. There are some plastic screw/clip things that hold it down. If I remember right, they have a slot they fit in, so you have to turn them to pull them from the slot. I don't remember if it's on this site or another one but there are directions somewhere. Do a search, you might find it, it's also inmy Haynes manual (but they neglected to tell you how to get the clips out, thought hubby was going to break them getting them out until he figured out that they turned, LOL)

What movie was that where he sent his dog through the car wash?? Same concept, except with the windows open, and the battery disconnected haha.

i have no idea if the 5th gens have a cabin air filter, but im still gonna remove the plastic cowl panel just to be safe, i know mine has vent holes in the cowl panel in about that location, so im gonna guess that it does. Enzo, i have no idea what the movie was, but i think maby the pressure washer will work much better than having the windows down! j/k i think the car would get sold or parted out before it came to that! thanks for all the tips, and if you have more, keep em comin!
