Powdercoating......
Hey people,
I have a set of F-body brake calipers that I am going to be installing to replace my front stock calipers as soon as the weather gets a little warmer.
They look pretty nasty (I got a used set cheap), and I am planning on pulling them apart and having them powdercoated, and then rebuilding them.
Can anyone tell me how much I should be looking at to have each caliper and bracket powdercoated?
I have no idea how much to expect, and do not want to get reamed.
I know it would be way cheaper to just spray them down with high-temp paint, but powdercoating can look really good.
Thanks,
-Riggs.

Should be able to get them done for about $50 for the pair? That was my quote. You will have to mask off everything not coated with a special tape. I ended up painting mine. Wishing I hadn't
if you can get it powder coat for $50 i'd jump on it cause it's not cheap. i got lucky on my C5 calipers i paid $50 cause the shop where i had mine done his wife quote me for that price. here is pic of my recent fbody calipers and brackets. he charged me regular price of $100. hey rigg, if you can't find anyone to powder coat yours and if you TRUST ME you are welcome to send them to me and i'll have him powder coat for you, just pay for shipping though and i'll help you out.
Wow, $50 or so for the set would be great.
Most of the places I've been looking at are asking about $40-$50 each for the calipers, and i think some ask an extra $5-15 for the brackets. (I'm thinking of getting the brackets coated a different color....most likely black)......
I'll have to look around a bit more. Those places are all performance shops that do powder coating, but I know that there are a bunch of different shops out there that aren't performance shops that do powdercoating.
Thanks guys.
I am planning on getting the rear calipers powdercoated the same color too.
I just want to find a second set of rear calipers so that I can still drive my car while they are being coated.
Anyone have any info on upgrades for the rear calipers? Are the grand am calipers the same size as ours, but aluminum instead of iron?
-Riggs.
Silverbullit.....
If these weren't so heavy, I'd take you up. I think it'd cost more than the difference just to ship them to you and back, so I was going to look around for a local place I could drop them off at.....You are in chicago?
Those blue calipers do look damn good though.
