Default Colored Interior Panels

Well at the moment im unemployed so i've decided to put some time into make my car a bit nicer. I was wanteing to paint some of the interior panels such as the plastic center console, the part of the dash that must be removed to replace the stereo, the plastic trim around the door handle and lock, and the odd shaped side panels in the back seat that look like they should hold speakers. I was wondering if these need to be professionaly painted, or if i can just throw some spray paint and clear coat em. Anyways heres a pic of the dash kit...

the parts im planning on painting are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 15, 16, 17, theres a few other parts im thinkin of doin but it might be a bit overkill.

Let me know what u think

if your gonna paint the interior plastic panels i would wanna sand the finish down very well, otherwise the paint will flake right off. and plenty of clearcoat. you probibly also want to use some adheishion promotor.

I used Fusion for my engine cover, but it doesn't get the "wear" that interior pieces do. Might try searching around on the sight I know there is a silver Monte on here that has pretty extensive paint on the inside. IIRC he had a thread about what he did, or at least described it in someone elses thread. Would have thought by now he would have chimed in that's why I didn't mention it earlier.

I am definetely looking forward to the pics, as I have been thinging about painting some of my interior panels gray. I like black, but there might be a bit too much in the monte.

How do you plan on removing the "rubber" coating on some of the pieces?

I have use krylon fusion and it turned out great. Just a lil sanding, a lil wet sanding and 3 cotes and its all good.

Tips: to consider

use 400 grit sandpaper, (any less and you will score it)
wet sand 400 to 800 inbetween cotes
apply wax now and then to give it a nice shine (dont press hard)

Krylon fusion does not need a clear cote but the do make them, and if you using real paint you will need a plastic primer and clear cote.

For thoes thinkin about tinting, the passenger door window is tinted @ 35%.
