You most definately can make the shifter shorter. I shortened mine. Heres the link that I followed.

that's nice but i think it sits too low now and what if you want to go back to stock?

I put my stock one back on, I missed it lol

I'll be putting up my G6 **** for sale later today and see if anyone's interested
