Check your Cat. I had a plugged one and the car ran about how you say yours does.
It was weird when it went, the car was fine all day then pulling out of my work the car started running horribly.

did you gap the plug to the right spec. might be maf sensor going bad or dirty. get a can of stp tb and air intake cleaner. turn off car, disconnect air box tube from tb, spray one or two mist through tb screen the sensor is behind the screen. start up the car and let it run for a minute, hook back the tb to the air box. if you don't have can of stp disconnect the maf sensor plug (on top of the tb) while the car is idling. if the car cut out or stall then the maf sensor need to be replace. that's my guess anyway...hope someone chime in.

There is a recall on the cats from 02 to 05 Monte's. I found out when I had my transmission rebuilt and the shop blew my motor (I had to pay for a new/used one).

Take your car to any Chevy dealership and get a new cat at no cost to you

I don't think it's necessarily a recall, just an extended warranty (100,000 miles) on the cat. Unless there's a proven problem I don't think they'll swap it for free.

Also I think it's all 00-05 montes.

There was an extended warranty on the '01-'02s, 10 years or 120k I believe. My vin fell right in the middle of the listed affected ones, at the time I had 108k and they fixed it free. GM called it a "special policy". Maybe it's been extended to other years. Mine was throwing a P0420 code though.

I was gonna say......

If you spilled any liquid on the coils I would swap the coil packs and see if the misfire follows.
There's a chance that you just caused a short inside the coil pack or that one of the connectors got corroded from the water.

Glad you found it though.
