DETROIT (July 7) - General Motors Corp. may get rid of some brands, speed the introduction of small cars from other markets and make further white-collar job cuts as it tries to deal with a shrinking U.S. auto market.

David Zalubowski, AP[/align]In response to consumers' changing attitudes as gas prices sit above $4 a gallon, struggling Detroit automaker General Motors is honing drastic changes in its strategy, which could include job cuts among its middle management, a hasty introduction of minicars into the U.S. market and even the paring of its brand lineup.
