Will 235/60r17s fit on a 6th gen Monte SS ?
 

Thinking of putting 235/60r17s on my Monte SS.. Will these fit or will I need spacers for them ? Worried about the strut tower on the rears... Please let me know if you have this tire size... Thanks...mjclemm..

I have 225/55R17's at all 4 corners, they are the biggest tire size that will fit on the rear without rubbing and they are still very close. Anything bigger will require spacers. Evan the stock size tires were a very close fit in the rear. My car is an LT.

I wouldn't see why not I'm running 255 35 20 on my car with no rubbing and there are 10" wide

There was 245/30r22s on my car when I bought it. Rubbing was the least of my problems. I downgraded to 245/45R18s all around no spacers, no rubbing, pics in garage. There are other members who are riding on 20s. But 245 is the widest you wanna go. You can go to the below website to compare your stock wheel size to the size you want. It'll even tell you how fast you are going on the new tires compared to the old. Good luck!

I'm running 255/45/17 nitto tires and no issues

I'm running 255/50/16's and did get rubbing against my rear control arms. We ended up putting 1/4" spacers at the control trailing arm mounts to push them inboard away from the tires. The front never had rub issues.

SS cars will support a wider tire than LS or LT's

Are those the dake jr replica rims? Mine with 235 55 r17s rubbed the rear strut plate bad. I ended up hitting mine with a hammer for a while and used some 5mm spacers. They fit fine now.

Actually, they are from Dale Earnhardt Chevy off of 1 of 8 SPECIAL edition Dale Jr cars.. We were driving thru North Carolina and stopped at the dealership, they had 8 sets of Dale Jr wheels there they took off to replace them with a special wheel just for them 8 cars, so they were selling the tires /rims for $300 out the door, so I scoped up a set on the spot !had them ship my old tires /wheels to my house for $80 (that's what they charged me) so I got brand new tires and rims for $380 TOTAL.... Man I was a happy dude...but my family wasn't so happy, when I pulled the car into THIER bay to have my wheels put on (we were in the middle of a vacation..lol) . But now want to change the tire size to fill the wheel well a bit and make it appear more aggressive....I love the style of the wheel itself, that's the only reason I'm not changing the wheels...oh, the tires just barely touched the Strut where the seat for the spring is. Yep, HAMMER TIME !thats why I was asking about the 235s.....

Anytime, you can always use some spacers too.
