Tire upsize
Can anyone tell me how wide and tall a tire will fit on a 2007 SS with stock rims.
Stock tires are P235/50R x 18's. I know P245/45R x 18 will fit but can I go wider with the same ratios of 50 or 45? Has anyone put wider tires on their car? |

Figured out by accident that 225/45/18s are dead on with 225/65/16s :)

Thank you - I appreciate the accolade. I took the car to my first show Saturday - The show was sponsored by Intense Racing. Was really nice. Couldn't stay long - but had a real nice time.

after reading as much as i can in the past 2 weeks since i joined, (and there is a mountain range of knowledge and experience here) i've come to the conclusion the best time to do plan wheels and tires is when changing the suspension (and brakes).
first off i like the mc the way it is, stock, just fine. i could live with it real easy. the changes i want to make are what i want to call subtle. drop the front with new struts and coil springs - i don't think i'm in the coil over market. new struts and coils in back. thinking of kyb agx strust as a point of reference. strut tower braces front and rear bigger (solid) sway bars front and rear dog bones the anti pogo stick thing i'm considering control and trailing arms but i might be taking things too far. i like the way it goes on the highway when i have to travel, but i really love the well paved curvy back roads all around the horse parks outside town. i was at my peak with torque wrenches in the 70's when wheel and tire options were simple. different sized cragars and eagle gts front and rear. im probably way off and the search would be endless. one idea i have is 18 inch 245/45 zr18 on front and fatter 18s in the back with the same style but wider / offset rear wheels. all i'm running into is "you cant put ANY wheels on your 2004 monte carlo ss" i don't plan on new wheels and tires till spring but the way my luck goes nothing will work other than the stock geometry. i dont know enough about the traction control and other computer integration to make this all work. any comments or pointing to already-posted-material would be appreciated. well maybe not from owners of horse parks as i whiz past their high dollar horses :) |
