short dog bones, why?

I read in this forum, that some think you should use 1" shorter dog bones when lowering your monty, I can't see any good reason for this on a daily driver. It looks like this would preload the engine mounts. The stock oem dog bones fit tight as is. I'm thinking about 1.5 front and 1" rear. So I hope some one in this forum will set me straight, thanks. hammerhead 2004 intimidator.

I am not a master on this, as I have not lowered the car. As I understand, depending on how low you make the car can sometimes affect the way the drive train sits. As a result, the stock dog bones are not the right fit and shorter ones will do better.
