question on brakes on your monte
 

im not a car guru and this is my first car, and i am just wondering if when you press down on the brakes lightly (on an 02 monte) if the brakes are supposed to make a "pulse" like feeling until you press a bit harder.

Shouldn't pulse. Common for the rotors to warp a little

Your rotors maybe warped an need to turned or replaced..

So is it safe to assume your driving the vehicle and are feeling the pulsing pedal as your coming to a stop?

It does sound like your front rotors are warped if this happens while braking. It's not the end of the world, they are actually pretty cheap and if you watch some You Tube videos about how to remove and replace your brakes you can do the rotor replacement yourself. Pretty easy cheesy, does not get much easier than this. You might even find your self replacing your old brake pads with new ones as you have to remove them and the caliper to take off your old rotor. And you save a few more dollars by not paying a mechanic some crazy amount to do a $45 job. Good luck...

Here is a link to eBay for some drilled and slotted rotors, they can get really hot and not warp again like the non drilled tend to do.
