Preferred Tire Size for 17x 7.5 Rims
 

I was able to purchase some chrome rims and tires for cheap. The only problem is that the tires have a small sidewall, leading me to believe im gonna have a rougher ride. I have an 02 MC SS, and wanted to get some new tires, ones with a bigger sidewall, just dont know what size i should look for.

I currently have stock 16in rims with 225/60R16 tires.
The ones I bought are 17x7.5 with 205/40ZR17 tires.

Should i Stick with 205s? or will 215s work?

Mine are the dale jr replicas. I believe they are 17x6.5. I run 235/45s on mine, and I would not hesitate to run up to 255s on your rim, if that helps at all.

So tire width doesn't matter? They all fit on?

Yea, just so long as they don't rub.

I replaced the 16" wheels with 17x7.5 wheels on my '03 and the tire size recommended to use was P225/55R17.
