I'm just curious if anyone else has upgraded their stopping power on a 7th gen SS. All I've done so far is upgrade to stainless brake lines, but I happened across this Brembo setup on zzperformance.

If anyone has, it looks like a pretty straight forward bolt on swap, just wondering if anyone has used it and if there was any modification required.

Bump for this, I was also thinking on upgrading my brakes. Also what headlights do you have on your monte? I've wanted to get the SMOKE ones from Spyder but I've heard mixed reviews about them

I installed 2002 Camaro two piston calipers & pads on my 2005 Monte Carlo SS
The top pad is stock Monte bottom pad is Camaro..
You have to drill & tap the caliper brackets..

There are a couple members on here who's 7th gens. have Wilwood brake systems. But alas from what I know they are not even close to being a direct bolt on, took them some head scratching. So if Brembo has a direct fit system I would go for it, wish they had a system for the 6th gens. Presently I'm running the F-body front's, have also heard I believe that Corvette calipers can be made to work on 6th gens... But not for sure.

I had the anzo projectors. The sidemarker led's got fried though when my alternator flipped out a few years back. I ended up going back to the oe style however the chrome has been blacked out. I don't care for tinted light covers, so the head/tail lights have clear covers with black housings.

I was looking into the Brembo front's for a while but have been wondering if maybe the GXP brakes may be the better option.

2006 SS stock brakes are 11.8 fronts , 10.8 rear.. much too small.
GXP's are 12.7 front , 11.8 rear

Anyone think the Brembo's 13.6 might just be not needed? Brakes are very important but maybe the GXP option would be the better way to go.

My main concern is that if I went with the Brembo's, what should be done in the rear for this car if you went with this 13.6 inch front. I am assuming I could find the rears GXP brakes if I choose to go with the GXP fronts, although they arent sold like that from ZZP.

After all, you do need to balance out the rear somewhat even though the car is probably 80-90 percent front braking. I would obviously need bigger in the back from a 10.8 stock size if you went up to 13.6 in front. What rears though, that's the question.

Thoughts? Any feedback appreciated.

I would think the GXP is all that is needed on these cars.

You 2006+ guys already run a dual-piston, so the F-Body upgrade wouldn't help you as much as us 00-05's

I just added drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads.

Thanks for responding Mike. So you would say to just source out the rear GXP and be good to go.

Is that what the Brembo's are considered, an F body upgrade? They are 4 piston. They would still be a step up from the dual piston gxp or stock wouldnt they? Again, wouldn't do it unless I knew what to do with the rears.

The Brembo are a completely different package.

The F-Body upgrade is what other members posted doing (but it's just for slight weight savings, and to get our 00-05 Monte to a dual-piston). You are already at dual-piston calipers so it wouldn't be as big of an upgrade for you.

GXP parts would probably be easier to source, and easier to replace, since they were stock and not just a package developed by an aftermarket company. I would most likely go that route haha
