Novice Lowering Question
 

After recently hitting the 400,000 mile mark, I decided to finally throw on a set of Yokohamas on the GXP rims I've been waiting to put on for the past two years. After doing so, I really liked how it looked, but for the past few days, it's been begging me to be lowered. It only need an inch at most, but I'm not sure whether or not I will need coilovers to do so. I recently replaced all the OEM struts with a set of Moog assemblies and would rather not have to replace perfectly good struts. I would like to know if using lowering springs on these struts for a 1'' drop is a good option. If not, where would I be able to find coilovers or struts that would hold up to lowering?

Thanks! Nobody in previous threads had mentioned having to use coilovers...just wanted some opinions

You don't necessarily have to replace your existing struts to do coilovers. You can mod your existing struts (ie cut off the spring perches) to work.

With that said, if all you want is an inch, springs are the way to go.

The real benefits to coilovers are being able to adjust the height (and allow you to really slam it) and to select the exact rate of springs that you want. But IMO it's too much work (or cost if you buy them complete) for what you're looking to for.

Good option, yes. Last I knew, the Eibach lowering springs are not available for these cars anymore. I had the Eibachs on my 03 SS but that was back in 2007. I have Canuck Motorsports lowering springs on my 06 SS. The Canucks are still available and lower approx. 1.5", slightly more than what the Eibachs were rated.
