New Tires & Rims

Hey Guys,

I'm new on the post but not new with the Monte's. I have owned oh, about 6 over the years from 70 to 77. I have a question for all of you andhope you can help. I have just purchased a 1976 with 7,000 original miles. Yes, I said 7,000. THis car looks as if it were in a bubble. The only item that has been changed on the car is the battery. The car still smells new after 32 years.

My question is: I have a set of 15x8 Crager Rims that I would like to stick on her. Does anyone know if It will be a big deal to put on the 8inch and not 7 inch on the car? And if this will be fine what size tire should I go with? I'm looking at BF Goodrich 225-60-15 whic has a height of 25.6 inches high and the other tire would be a 235-60-15. The height on this is 26.8

I hope someone can help!

JWS

RE: New Tires & Rims

Cragar SS wheels with spinners & 10" deep dish Cragars in the rear look awesome. The largest size 15" tires (shown here) that can fit in this wheel well without any modification is...P275/60 R15. With this large tire in the rear, you have about a 3/4" to a 1" clearance with the inside edge of the fender, and may notice slight rubbing against your leaf springs, but it is minor. My rear air shocks raise the body height a little with about 125 PSI of pressure, but I do not know if they are really needed for any other clearance issues with this tire size. I reduced the front tire size from P225s to P205s to keep them from rubbing & damaging the front fender when turning.
