New Tires
I want some stock sized tires on my Monte Carlo. What's the best thing for my desires, which are about to be listed. I used to have a glasspack exhaust, but got tired of listening to it and went back stock. Now I want peace and quiet in my Monte Carlo because I drive it 200 miles a weekend for over half hte year going to college and back. I'm not upgrading my rims, or anything like that, so just a good stock tire.
I've looked at a couple of Hancooks and soem Continentals... not so sure what I think about Good Years and I don't think I want a Michelin (because Michelins are loud, in my experience). I want something that will last a good 40,000 miles or so, have fair performance in wet and dry, although snow is not necessarily needed, but will take it if I can get it, and I'd like something pretty quiet. Any suggestions?
I bougth my car with National Ovations on it... they've lasted about 30,000 miles and are still okay. I never drove a Monte Carlo with the stock Good Years on it though.

I spent over a month deciding on tires...I know the pain. I finally decided on the Bridgestone Turanza's w/ Serenity.
I wanted a tire that I could easily drive 60+ mi/day on that would last a lot of miles and not be loud...plus I can take a corner on wet pavement without worry if I want to.... A nice tire and not too expensive. Good luck.

BTW ... you're not missing anything by not driving on the original Goodyear RS/A's...they were loud and only lasted 40,000 mi (I should have replaced them at 35,000..HA!)

I have goodyear eagle LS on my stock 16's.ride a LOT SOFTER AND QUIETER THAN THose RS'A I have on my summertime 17's they were about $100 apiece at ntb. if you want comfort and good ride and they are supposed to be 60,000 mile tire. I am really happy with them
I have General Altimax HP tires on mine, the wet traction is fantastic, and, though not a requirement for you, they are fantastic in snow and ice. They are pretty quiet and will last a good while if you don't drive like I do. I have about 15,000 on mine and he rears look near new, the fronts are due to be replaced because of the disorder afflicting my right foot.
I've read very good things about the General Altimax HP...good tire for the Money.
I currently have Continental ContiProContacts on my Monte, i've gotten 60,000 Miles out of them. They are only good for summer driving at this point, but by the time I replace them, they will have about 65,000 miles on them. Also, the price on these is usually very resonable.
Also, www.tirerack.com can give you a good idea about tires and how they perform.

Pirelli P series. I got the P4 I dont know if the 4 has to do with size but they're rated at like 85K maybe 80K and they are pretty quiet. I drive teh sht out of them and They look brand new. So, they last long as hell, quiet, and have great performance, all weather also. Seems like thats what you're looking for right?
Thanks for all of the input, guys. I have posted this on 3 forums and that Pirelli P series seems to be the most popular tire on a Monte Carlo right now. You guys have quite a bit of variety. There are just so many choices... it's hard to pick which one is the best! If you can name off ones to definitely avoid, I'll take that too!!
