Nascar Style Rims and Tires

Well I have decided to go with a nascar/race look for my sexy '04 monte ss and was wondering if anyone knows where i can find nascar style rims and the tires with the yellow lettering?

steelmalu43 07-26-2009 10:21 AM

I actually just saw like a 03-04 SS whith these wheels and tires, and it looked sweet. I'd check tirerack.com.

ChibiBlackSheep 07-26-2009 10:24 AM

The tires are going to be VERY hard to come by, just a little FYI

ok tires are gonna be hard to find but rims shouldnt be hard at all to find i believe u can even find them in 20's..... thats what i was gonna put on my car

punisherss 07-26-2009 02:53 PM

the pic of juniorcar's Dale Jr has exactly what i'm looking for

AwesomeSS 07-26-2009 02:58 PM

Your best bet is Craigslist, but here I found white lettered Nascar tires here:
http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...le+%231+NASCAR
And I think Duplicolor makes a paint pen or something that you can color your lettering on your tires:

punisherss 07-26-2009 04:03 PM

the pen is exactly what I need...now all i need to do is find the perfect set of rims

punisherss 07-26-2009 04:39 PM

heres the rims i found...

Those do look cool and it looks like a good deal and the seller has 100% feedback.

ChibiBlackSheep 07-27-2009 08:41 AM

I think 18s would be a little too much rim for the Nascar look. It should almost look like steelies...

I'd say a 15 or 16" rim would look the best. More rubber on that wheel!

Budsjlm 07-27-2009 11:59 AM

id have to +1 on the 18's beign a little too much rim n no tire so it wouldnt look truely like a nascar...toobad its no like the old cars imo new cars have wntirely to much positive offset...

JuniorCar 07-27-2009 01:07 PM

Those are the right rims, but finding Goodyear RWL (or yellow for that matter) that fit 18" will be tough, if not impossible. I pm'ed you, but those Nascar tires only come in one size - has to be 16". But mine are Primax Victory's. Contact the seller to see if he can get 16". Getting the exact righ offset is important too. I can't remember what it is. But I did have to grind my calipers to make them fit.

punisherss 07-28-2009 08:05 AM

i was really just posting it for the pic...i planned on getting 16's fitted with a nice set of Goodyear tires and the final result...

Giggity lol (Gotta love that line)

JuniorCar 07-28-2009 06:56 PM

Let me know if you have to grind your calipers too. I was pissed off about that. I had to buy a grinder and, figuring I really needed it the once, went cheap. I nearly killed myself with that cheap grinder and worse. No matter how I tightened it, it would not stop throwing the disc off. It got the job done at high risk, no problems with the wheels since. Several places had to balance them to get it right.

Later, while grinding something else around the house (in my robe) I nearly castrated myself with that damn grinder. Launched the disk right through my legs and the robe. I threw it out.

Yeah, I know it's really not funny, but I LOL'ed

:)

Budsjlm 07-28-2009 11:22 PM

jr..sound like a b... just to get it to fit....why where u in a robe put there?...did ya just throd the disc or did ya shrapnel it... i had one shrapnel on me ...had a chunk of it in my knuckle..

JuniorCar 07-29-2009 05:39 AM

It was pretty funny Taz! I can't remember ever having such good luck - its kind of invigorating like dodging bullets. But I did set to work on having kids right after that just in case my luck was running out.

The grinder just wouldn't hold the disks well. Exploding disks are probably worse. I was in my robe cause I was stupid. But it was just a quick small task where I was grinding soft plastics and I didn't think anything could go wrong.

Look at me - I'm Jesus Christ!

punisherss 08-16-2009 07:31 PM

Junior...I picked up a similar paint pen to the duplicolor one you PM'd me about and i did the front drivers side so far on my eagle rs-a tires...looks great...cant wait to do the other 3 and see the reaction I get at the local car show this comming friday if the weather holds out.

JuniorCar 08-16-2009 10:11 PM

Do the eagle rs-a's even have raised white lettering? I'm eager to see them. Truthfully, I hate the way these tires perform and ride. I love to get something better, but so few Goodyear's have raised white lettering to work with. If the paint works on black the scope is widened

punisherss 08-17-2009 07:06 AM

well after all the time i put into making the first tire perfect...the paint started flaking off on my ride to and from work so it doesn't work on the black rubber...only the raised white letters i guess

JuniorCar 08-17-2009 12:25 PM

I was afraid that would happen. I don't even know why it sticks to the white, but I do know it will flake off the white if its not scrubbed down good and clean first. I assume you did with the black as well - did you use steel wool?

mavrickf1613 08-17-2009 02:03 PM

There is a company that makes great wheels with the nascar look, you can get them from discount tire or other places.

http://www.barretire.com/Wheels/nascar.htm

they are victory wheels that makes the nascar looking rims, google victory wheels and look online for them, you will like them, I am a big fan of this comapanies wheels

punisherss 08-21-2009 05:05 PM

didnt use steel wool...was kind of afraid it would pull some of the rubber off...i guess i'll give that a try once the weather gets better here...rain all weekend

jose.n.enriquez 12-16-2009 03:54 AM
