Lowering springs worth it
I was looking into lowering my 03 ss soon and was wondering are the lower springs worth it. Im looking at the eibach springs and the ssc ones from zzp. Which would be the best to buy
|
I have installed lowering springs on three previous cars; Mustang, Camaro and a RX8. Used Eibachs on all three and was happy with the end results. Eibachs are progressive springs and not single rate.
Unfortunately, our beloved MC has little aftermarket behind it, so your choices for springs are VERY limited. Good luck. |
I have Eibach springs on my Prelude, and the car rides very well. Never ridden in a lowered Monte though.

Im pretty sure if you get lowering springs get the SSC ones, they have a lifetime warranty against sagging and great customer service.

Honestly, I've seen a few "lowered" Monte's before, and it's tough to tell the difference between a lowered one and a stock one. Bottom line, don't do the lowering for appearance's sake, because it just isn't there. I'm not sure what the handling benefits are. But I know it's an expensive job, you should buy the KYB AGX adjustable struts, sell for $500 for all 4, plus anti-pogo washers. Then after that's done, your car will ride lower and smoother, but you'll have more vibrations coming from the engine bay, and you should look into shorter dog bones to reduce that. If you have the money, go for it, otherwise I think the Monte is low enough as is.

my monte rides eibachs w/ KYB GR-2's and anti pogo washers all around. smoothest ride i've ever had in a lowered car. when you lower it, you'll need shorter dogbones to reduce vibration and anti pogo washers from zzp are a strong recommendation.

Thanks for the tip 2003. I didn't know about the shorter dog bones, does this apply to 06-07 as well?
And people who are into cars can definitely tell a lowered car when it is sitting there. There is no comparison. |
