Klunk/alignment issues

Okay, so i have a 2005 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged, and lately ive been hearing a klunking noise when turning, it started out to be only when turning left, but now its gotten really bad, and it will pop when accelerating hard, and my alignment will go slightly off and the steering wheel will be off center to the left or the right depending oh what way it pops. what could this possibly be, a inner tie rod, ball joint or Intermediate steering shaft or something else. please help its driving me insane :(

Not sure about the steering wheel being with an ISS problem but you could try some lithium spray grease. There are posts here I believe on how to do it but I kniow there are pics and step by step instructions here http://www.naioa.com/v2/modules.php?...wtopic&t=10805. If the grease doesn't fix it, it's probably not the ISS. Mine did the thunking thing but not alignment issues with it.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? My 01 also has a clunk sound when I turn left. It doesn't sound like it is coming from my steering wheel though. I recently put new CV axles and wheel bearings on the car, but the clunk remains. I took the tire off and I looked at everything and it all looks fine. But the Clunk still haunts me. I just would like to get it taken care of so it won't be a problem later. Any ideas would be helpful. Keep me posted.

In my experience, the sound from an ISS doesn't really come from the steering wheel. You hear the klunk/thunk but also feel it through the steering wheel somewhat but more through the brake pedal. The white lithium spray grease is an easy and cheap fix to try.

My clunk actually turned out to be ball joints. Somehow they didnt have the coter pin in them. I hope this helps or gives you a place to check.

This is actually something I started encountering in the past month with my '02. Going to research a bit more and take it easy on the turns until I can get it resolved.
