Impal 04 struts for a 6th gen Monte ?

Anyone know if struts from a 04 Impala will fit into the 6th gen Mintes ? The ride from the impala is so much smother than my monte and want to switch it over for a smother ride.... Help !

I just did a cross reference on RockAuto.com and they claim '04 Impala front and rear struts do fit the '00-'07 Monte. Based on that, I think you would be fine.

The next question is, are the genuine GM struts for both vehicles actually different or is it the comparison of one vehicle has a really worn out set of struts and the other does not (or were the struts changed on one of the vehicles already).

its my understanding they had the exact same struts from the factory, so sounds like one is more worn out than the other

difference is in the springs, monte ss got fe2s, impala got anything from fe1-fe4s

the 2000-2004 monte ls use the same setup at the 2006-2011 impala ls

and theyre bolt in on the rear of fifth gens too :)

exactly and now that the springs have settled it handles so well in the corners minimal tire squeal flying on and off highway ramps its such a nice change to have higher limits.(compared to a bounceing and sliding rearend)

The only thing you really need to watch for is strut height. The struts for the 16" wheels is shorter, so if you got a strut for 17" wheels (and have 16" wheels) you will have a fitment problem.

What would the smoothest springs be ? I don't want a stiff ride anymore... Ravings all done now...lol...

I just installed brand new Kyb struts on my Monte SS... The struts work great. But the ride is stiff as all hell.... That's why I want diff struts / or springs... For the smoothest ride, what would you recommend ? Thanks everyone....mjclemm...
