Brake Upgrades

I am going to replace my front wheel hubs this week. While I have the the brakes off, I am considering upgrading to better calipers and rotors. One or both of the front rotors are warped from hard braking at high speeds. Anybody have any recomendations on high quality rotors and calipers?

I will probably paint the calipers too. What color would look good on a silver SS?

You could try ZZP they have plenty of brake upgrade kits, not sure if they fit Monte's but definitely give them a look!

I installed 2002 Camaro calipers & pads on my 2005 Monte Carlo SS
The top pad is stock Monte bottom pad is Camaro..
You have to drill & tap the caliper brackets..

That is the ticket what Z Jerry did, upgrade to the 2000-2002 Camaro front brake calipers. I have done the same, much better braking when you really need it. They are all over at the junk yards, Firebird , Camaro calipers, bet you can get them for $25 a pair. The rear rotors we have are the biggest set we have available, think the Pontiac GP guys put our Monte rear calipers / rotors on their cars. As far as rotors go, hit eBay up for some drilled / slotted, they can be had for cheap. See the link below, I would buy new rotors all the way around, get the F-body front calipers, buy some good brake pads for them and also some new pads for the OEM Monte Carlo rear calipers.

See this link, these will be plenty fine and for a super price too...

I'm about to do the same install on mine I found a set on eBay by power stop. But I got a quest. Am I supposed to drill and tap the original bracket or the one that comes with the f body set? Thanks

You need the F-body bracket. The stock Monte bracket would not need to be drilled and tapped, it already fits. But the Monte bracket is not the right geometry to hold a F-Body caliper.

I believe ZJerry has some more info on this mod (possibly pics too).

Ight got u. It's not a bad deal powder coated red. Ceramic brakes and rotors all for 240. I'm sure the brand is good. I had my wife's rx300 for over 2 years on the same front brake pads by power stop. I checked on them last week ready to swap em before they get too low they still had half life left. Any recommends on the stell brake lines? Or shud I get the zzp set for the fron only. It sux I have the stock rims on me tho I would like to show off the brake kit lol

I have Bendix ceramic pads, AC Delco rotors (all bought from the "performance" section on RockAuto.
For the stainless lines, I'm using the kit sold by Goodridge, zero issues so far.
