Bought rims now have vibration

So I recently bought used rims that are 18 s can't remember width but there much wider and bought new raptor 245/40zr18 tires from riken and I sold old set but now I have a vibration between 50-70 mph sometimes in the 45 mph zone so to make long story short they bein balanced 4 times no indication there bent they also bein road forced which they suggested it might just be tires had bearings replaced ( found to be worn when troubleshooting ) mounted tires myself no vibration for a couple days than came back so moved tires from front to rear to see if that made difference in steering wheel vibration and it was hardly noticeable for a couple more days than came back .... So at this point is it the tires ? Or am I missing something also can't tell but almost feels like it's vibrating more in that zone when pressing gas pedal just had to throw that in but 3 different tire places 2 mechanics and myself and a friend to no end. Should have never sold stock rims right away lol help

I came hear to post balance & rotation, lol but since you took care of that.
My next suggestion would be a wheel alignment... but i think that would affect at all speeds not just the ones you posted.
Hopefully a more knowledgeable member can chime in. :)

I would have a tire place remove the tires and do just a rim balance and see what it comes up with, rims could be out pf round,

If they were wouldn't it still show up when you balance them with tires ? And if they don't find anything anyone else have an idea ? I figured if they were bent or out of shape you would see it when you go to weight them and what are my odds of having more than one being like that sense it still happens when you swith front rims to back ?

My car is a lil shaky with my aftermarket wheels, I just got use to it because they've been balanced twice with the same results.

Yea I figured at this point tried everything I can think of so I'm just goin to deal with it think due to the intensity of the vibration changing I'm thinkin it's tires I'll just wait till I need new ones to find out. Who knows but thanks for the advice everyone !

are the tires new? ive had tires that were old and sitting in my basement forever.they were rock hard and would vibrate pretty good once i got up to a descent speed.

I bought them actually in march and had problems ever sense

Might have to check to see if any of the rims are bent !

red04montels 12-20-2010 09:33 PM

im gonna go with balancing. either that or the rim isnt built right, which can be the case with aftermarket rims
