air ride suspension for turbo monte :)

i have been wanting to do this for years and finally decided this winter was the time for it to happen!!
i purchased the airbagit.com kit but upgraded to a bigger air tank, two compressors, and a air-smart smart ride 9000 management that has height and pressure sensors for each bag along with 5 presets. total cost shipped was right around $3,500 now a little review on this kit for future members considering doing air ride.... when i received the kit it was missing fittings, missing a strut bearing mount nut, and they sent me the wrong air tank. there was no instructions included for any of the install either, no printed bill or list of parts contents. as you can imagine i was not happy, i called and told them i have the wrong air tank. sales rep said well the one you have is fine so use it unless you really want to ship it back and exchange it. i agreed i would make it work since they sounded as if they did not wanna bother switching it and return shipping was on me. i also told him i need instructions, he said he would email them. i got the email and the instructions covered about half of the install and at that time i realized i was missing fittings. called back, they told me it would be easier for me to go to the hardware store and buy the fittings i need instead of them shipping them and they gave me the fitting sizes i needed. then i seen they charged me a upgrade for a pressure switch that i didnt even need when doing a smart ride management because this management includes the sensor. also they sent me relays for the compressors that do not have resistors built into them but in the directions it states the relays MUST have resistors. at this point i was pretty upset, i emailed the owner of the company and explained all of the issues and told them i want a refund of the difference in tank cost, want a refund for the pressure switch they charged me that i didnt need, and a refund for all missing parts i was missing that i had to purchase including two relays because they sent me ones i can not use. the owner replies back moreless saying that i have a bad attitude and i have no right to be upset, he said he would refund the cost and will no longer assist me with anything else. so i start install, run into fitment issues with the rear air bags, the wheel hits the bottom bag mounting plate. i email asking if these were made wrong or am i doing something wrong, the owner replies and says he will not assist me with any further questions that i am on my own. end result was i researched and found a guy with this kit on his gp, asked him some questions and he sent me pics of what he had to modify to get them to fit properly. so to get the rear struts to fit, i had to grind down the bottom bag mount of brand new struts, and buy 8mm wheel spacers. not the wheel clears the strut but hits the fender when aired out, so i also had to roll me rear fenders. finally now they fit like they should after a lot of modification but this is a "bolt on kit" the front struts if you use the upper mounting holes for max drop you also have to cut the bottom of the mounting bracket, if you dont the bracket hits the cv boot. i have got all 4 bags installed and air line ran into the car but i still need to install the manifold, tank, compressors, and management along with ride height sensors. hopefully all of this goes better then what the bag install went! so in conclusion i will never buy anything from airbagit.com ever again! i also suggest others considering doing bags to buy universal air lift struts and have the bottom mounting bracket welded onto the strut when you figure out how far of a drop you want etc. then buy your compressors, tank, and management from another vendor other than airbagit.com! now for some pics :) these are suppose to be setup to drive factory height, drop 4" below factory and raise 2" above factory. i will find out if thats true once i get air to them and check travel in the struts! Monte + $ + Talent = Super Super Fast Show Ride (WoW)
 You're Welcome `John, I know what it takes to compose a thread like you did above. I think more member's would post about it but they are stunned by the parts + trying to figure out how it is done. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...rddLrWiOYarnkD How does `John do all this stuff http://winetastingguy.com/wp-content...umbfounded.jpg I don't know, but it sure is nice stuff 4-$ure http://shesaid.com/au/wp-content/upl...015/07/121.gif What is it ? http://12840-presscdn-0-47.pagely.ne...ds_980x350.jpg I just know I will be looking forward to his updates. :congrats::thumbsup::congrats: |
Lol thanks bud, not many members comment on my stuff and I don't post for the comments etc. I post so when someone has a question about air ride for example and they search for it on here or Google they will find this thread and have some useful information. That's the soul purpose of my posts. Same with my fuel rail post I made and my antilag post I made. Both of them will be updated as things progress just as this thread will be. :)
Glad you enjoy seeing my posts though, it is nice to know ow that someone is enjoying it :rotfl: |
>Thanks<
Thanks `John, I just admire your abilities and dedication to make all your vehicles the best that they can `be with the $'s and time that you have to improve them I enjoy & appreciate your time to share them with your Monte Carlo Family. + Posting on your threads to bump them to page one so that other member's can see & enjoy :congrats: |
Looks like a cool project. Pretty crazy they had that many errors and were that unhelpful though, I'd definitely be peeling their stickers off the valves!
That is a pretty good amount of grinding on those rear struts too! Are you planning to mount the pumps in the back seat floor wells where you have them in the pic? Just curious if you're concerned about noise with them? |
Yea, I am very unhappy with this company....
I will probably mount the compressors there, they will be loud but they only run when airing up so not like they will be on constantly. I would of liked to do a nice trunk mount with the whole bag setup but the trunk is all fiberglassed in with my sub enclosure so can't do that. |

Update:
I have all bags installed, hooked one compressor up for now to get air into the bags to remove the jack stands, then completely aired it out to check clearances etc. The rear tires are rubbing the quarter panel a little bit still so I will need to roll them a little more. Other then that everything seems good!! Pics are fully aired out, that's as low as she goes!!
