96 Monte Carlo Brake Issues

So I just bout a 96 Monte Carlo trying to get wheels back under me as a single mother it is hard to rely on others to transport me and my daughter around. Well right off when I first started driving it I noticed although it wasn't hard the get it to stop but I did have to press the break close to the floor. So right off the bat I was told it was probably the master cylinder and the brakes needing to be replaced. but checked the pads and rotors and all are in good shape. checked the brake fluid and it was almost empty so filled it up and went to try to bleed the break starting at the passenger rear but no fluid would come out even though I had it opened completely. any ideas or tips would be appreciated

Did you have someone helping you bleed the brakes?
Read the following post. Particularly posts 2 and 7

make sure none of the brake lines are leaking. also bleeding brakes is a two person job unless you have a vacuum pump

Yes I had a second person to help. I was able to get it to a mechanic who was able to diagnose the issue as a bad ABS Control Module. Now to find the part at a reasonable price and get it installed. He said without it I have no back brakes but my front brakes are excellent.

Um, they should still work w/o the ABS though.

At least mine does.

So it's been very difficult, because I got the part took it to the mechanic and found out that it is not it, and the way he described the part it sounded more like a the ABS pump, so to be on the safe side I took it to another mechanic who confirmed it was needing an ABS pump assembly. Which I now have one and hoping to get installed tomorrow.
