Think about it, the hub centric rings center the rim, this would take pressure off of the studs that would be there if the rim wasn't centered. The rim could be pushed off in any which direction which would result in breaking studs.

I never said it corrects the problem, it just helps to take the strain off of the struts because of the rim now being centered better than it would have been.

So like you have said (even tho you said it doesn't affect it) the hub centric rings will help to bring stress off of the studs and help when using 114.3 x 5 bolt pattern, so they do kind of have to do with using the wrong bolt pattern (in this case 114.3 x 5). That's what I was initially trying to get at :thumbsup:

heres a old sticky from ls1tech on asa wheels.Warning about ASA Wheels. - LS1TECH i have no clue why it was a sticky, and im not sure if the guy with the stud problem is the same guy that posted the pics on the other site, but perhaps the situation with the studs has nothing to do with the bolt pattern and are more to do with that manufacturer. ive never personally run that bolt pattern on my car so i cant speak from experience, but having seen numerous high hp wbodies running mustang wheels, and slicks/drag radials without problems i would say yes its possible to break studs, but not super likely. i mean i can get struck by lightning while typing this cause its storming out, but i think ill be ok. just because something has a small chance of happening doesnt mean it will.

Will they fit? yes Run them at your own risk.

i thought about saleen rims at one point. called two different tire shops, one said they do 5x114.3 all the time on 5x115 cars, the other act like i was a moron to not match up 'properly'. i didn't trust either and just went with 5x115.

I would stick with 5x115.

Here there are over 1000 rims to chose from.

remove the size you chose from the menu. 1600+ rims to pick from. 255 are 18x8 which is what I want to use. All are the correct 5x115 with proper offset. They price match also.

With that many to chose from no reason to run 5x114.3

Thanks for the link, I found one or 2 that I liked. Problem is that newer rim designs are so gaudy and ridiculous and that's all that I can find in 5x115. I'm looking for retro, or simple-yet-elegant styling. I'll keep on the look out.
