17 inch wheels on a 07 SS

Hey everyone, i dont know if anyone else has tried this yet but i would like to go down to a 17 in wheel and a slightly taller sidewall has anyone done this or know how it would work?

Yeah. I have my Parents running 16s for the winter time on their 06 SS.

When you go down to 17 get a 235/55/17 tire

well i have 245/45/18 NEXEN N3000's on them atm and i spin bad! i was looking at geting some wider wheels do you know a 5x115 wheel that is wide enough for a 255-275x17? i am also planing on geting a Locked rear coil setup that will reduce weight transfer to the back.

also i am asking because i have googled the crap out of it and cant find but 17x7.5 wheels.

A wider tire isn't necessarily what you are going to need. If you want better traction take some air pressure away, or get a tire with better grip.

I wouldn't go putting on super wide tires or tires with a lot of grip anyway. The transmission is too weak for those hard launches.

i have a built tranny in mine and my cuz's garage, this is a planed N0S project and im not swaping it out until it it dies or the N0S is installed. Now it was my understanding that its not safe to run under 25PSI on radial tires or am i wrong on that? Thanks for the feedback btw.

All you will do is truthfully just wear out different sections of the tire, but honestly, if you are hard launching all the time, the treadwear just won't be there anyway.

Look for a set of standard daily drag radials too.

Like Nitto 555?

The NT555R is a better tire for grip but there sizes are odd, i had the NT555 on my Drag rims for my GTO & i could light em up to easy but the NT555R i dont spin much

I really wanted to get a set of 16" rims for DR. What width/offset do they have on their '06?
