hi guys,i was wondering i got a 01 with 06 ss wheels i think my tmps runs of the abs in the 01 and the 06 has a sensor in the wheels.my question are the sensors in the wheels even work on my 01 or are they useless

You are right, the TPMS in the 01, run off the ABS system. The 06/07 models have the sensor right inside the tire itself.Two completely different systems. I would think your 01 TPMS should still work. The 01 system just measured if one of your tires was going down. It did it somehow through the ABS system sensing a change in the revolutions of the tire going down. It won't tell you which tire is low, just that something has changed since you last set the monitoring system inside the car.

Shouldn't matter using the 06 rims, the sensors would just be along for the ride.Hey unless you breakdown thetire, you won't even know if the sensor thingy's are there. In the 06/07 models, the sensors have a small battery, which sendsa signal to the cars computer, which enables the drivers information center to display the pressure in each wheel. The batteries in the sensor, are apparently going to last for around 8 years, then the whole sensor will have to be replaced.
