Default Lexus V8 vs. Chevy V6 - My first time at the track!

So my buddy with a 2001 Lexus LS430 finally got me to go to the track with him. It was his first time too. He just got his licence back and that is a really funny story in itself, but anyways he'll be losing it again soon so we had to race while we could. The Lexus has a 290 HP V8, but the car is totally stock.
The BudChev soundly pounded it 3 times and never lost to it. I did get spanked by a mid-90's Integra and a Saturn Sky (the Integra did fault tho). I wasn't too happy with my mid 14's - best was actually 14.54 and most other runs 14.7x, buts it fun and something to work with. I had the headlight out for a few runs and didn't really notice a difference. The Lexus ran 15's

I'll scan some slips...

Congrats. Sounds like a lot of fun. If the Integra faulted, you got the win. A "w" is a "w"...

That's what I was thinking, but they gave me the yellow loser slip

Here's a few - I'm car 964

This was my best run. It was against a Mazda 626. It was a V6, but its Mazda. He was just clowning around though - why not?

This was that fast Integra beating me. 111MPH!

And against the Lexus.
After reviewing my slips more closely, my times were worse then mid 14's honestly, but I stayed out of the 15's.

My guess is I'll be faster next week...

St. Thomas Raceway Park, Sparta, Ontario

One of the longest running drag tracks in Ontario is making a comeback. John and Sharon Fletcher have taken control of St. Thomas Dragway just outside of London, Ontario in the small town of Sparta.

Those are actually pretty good times for your Monte. It appears that you're almost stock. I saw that you have the ZZP dogbones and the Wizaired intake, so really you're not doing bad at all. From the time slips you showed you can really see how 60' times affect your 1/4 mile times too. That's kind of funny too about the Lexus. I didn't realize that they are just about as slow as my Monte was when it was stock, lol.

There is a bit more going on the the CAI under the hood, but I keep it on the down low. I have MPS, HV throttle body, powerlog & downpipe - a few other supporting mods with a custome street tune

The rockers are next, but I don't know if that will happen this season. The car will never been finished, but I'll be disappointed if I don't get into the 13's be next year. My tires are the biggest killer - I spun them almost ever run. I think the driver needs work too...

It's not traction that's limiting you. Your trap speed is very, very low for a 3.4 setup car with exhaust work. You need to get the car scanned and tuned, as something is wrong. My 3.4 setup Regal trapped 6-7 MPH higher than you are with the same mods.

Trap speed indicates how much power you're making, and is the read indicator of what times your car has the potential to run. You will not run 13s with 94-95 MPH trap speeds. You should be trapping 99-101.

You're 60's aren't that bad. 60' is the indication of how well you're hooking and getting off the line. With a 2.2 60' like you had, you'd be high-13s with more power. Meaning, if you got your traps up to 99-101 and maintained that 2.2 60' you'd be in the 13.7-13.9 zone (which is what my 3.4 setup car did with a 2.2 60', trapping at 101).

So...glad you had fun, that's all that matters- now get it scanned, get it tuned, and go back.
