06&07 Monte Carlo SS V8 vs. Charger Hemi 5.7L V8
Have any of the new V8 Monte boys raced a Charger with the Hemi yet? i think the monte might get it in the quartermile due to the weight distribution and the fact that Chevy really knows how to tune their cars.

Not to be the bear'er of bad news but I guess I'll do it.
2006-2007 Hemi Charger The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine with cylinder deactivation boasts 340 horsepower (254 kW) @ 5000 rpm and 390 lb.-ft. torque (525 N•m) @ 4000 rpm. Dodge Chargers equipped with HEMI engines can go from zero to 60 mph in just 6.0 seconds. 2007 Monte Carlo SS Engine: 5.3L V8 - 303 hp at 5,600 rpm and 323 lbs-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm If I had to put my money some where... I got the Charger... |

Those red-and-blue strobes. Lighting up your rearview mirror like the finale in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." They're for you. Time for your best Ned Flanders impersonation. Pull over, hands in plain sight on the wheel, pathetic smile. "What's the trouble, Mr. Officer, sir? Did I leave my checkbook back at the orphanage?" Only a fool would do anything else. Thanks to countless action movies and TV police dramas, the question has become a staple of bar-stool debates: What if, in the presence of those flashing red-and-blue disco balls, you...made a run for it? Quick downshift, stand on the gas, a nip and tuck through traffic, and...Would you leave the police cruiser in the dust? RE: 06&07 Monte Carlo SS V8 vs. Charger Hemi 5.7L V8
Unmoded Chargers R/Tare nothing to worry about with an 06 or 07 MC SS. But they do respond very well to mods.
I have taken umodded R/T Charger and Magnum from a light to about 75 mph, the lead was only about a car or less. If we were able to go on they might catch up not sure. Both cars were RWD there are AWD versions as well. The Monte Base weight as about 3400lbs.TheyCharger is4031lbs base curb weight. So there isthe difference, according to GM the Monte is 0-60 in 5.7secs SRT-8 are the ones that you have to worry about I have been killed by an SRT-8 charger and SRT-8 Jeep. P.S. When I raced the charger I was stock. When I raced the Magnum I had a K&N Aircharger. |
I havent raced an r/t yet but i haved raced an sxt that has the pennstar v6 rated at 300 hp i have a modded 04 monte ss supercharged that is pushin 320 hp and i left that sxt in the dust at a light im assuming an r/t would be a different story but i know i would give him a run for his money if i had a good launch

this is a really really old thread. those cars are really heavy compared to the 6th and 7th gen montes. the brand new mopars might beat an ls4 car, but then again i havent seen them run so i couldnt say for sure. the older 5.7 ones dont do well stock vs stock. i can only imagine the v6 ones would be even worse.

I don't fear any SRT8's and I ran a 2010 GT500 into the dirt at the track, he took me by a fender. He had me at the line, my turbo came alive and I pulled past him hard and then he came back at the end and took me by a fender.... :) :)

Thats cause your car is crazy zip. We have Sams monte on our team tho ! /flex #teammonte.
